Who we are

Commercial Solar Surveys is a trading name of TNW Marketing (TNW Holdings UK Ltd, company number 14692045, registered in England and Wales). You can see the company's record, status and filing history on Companies House. More about us is on the about page.

How we are paid

The business pays nothing for the survey. The installer we match you with pays us for the appointment. That is the whole arrangement: we do not charge you a fee, and we do not sell finance.

Being paid for appointments gives us a reason to arrange surveys, so here is how we keep that honest:

  • We call you first. Nobody visits until we have talked the site through with you.
  • We say no when a site does not suit solar. If the roof is near the end of its life, the building is about to change hands or the electricity use is too small to justify a system, we tell you on the call.
  • We match one installer. An appointment is only useful to an installer if the site is genuine and the business wants the survey, which is the same thing you want.

How we choose your installer

We match you with one of 130+ MCS certified installers across the UK, and only those who pass our checks. If an installer doesn't meet these, we don't match them.

  1. Reviews. What customers say about their work.
  2. Accreditations. The certifications and memberships that apply to the work they do.
  3. Trading history. How long the business has traded and its record at Companies House.
  4. Stable directorships. Who runs the company, and whether that has been settled.
  5. MCS. Certified for solar PV.
  6. Area and job size. They cover your area and take on projects of your size.

Then we pick, from the installers who pass, the one that fits your site: the size of system you are likely to need, the roof type, and where you are. The detail of the match, and how to check any installer yourself, is on commercial solar installers.

What happens to your details

  • Your enquiry comes to us. We use it to call you and understand the site.
  • If the site looks suitable, your details go to the one matched installer, so they can arrange the survey.
  • They do not go to any other installer or to a list of companies.

Our privacy notice explains how we hold your details and how to ask us to delete them.

What we do not do

  • We do not install solar panels, batteries or chargers.
  • We do not provide finance or give tax advice. Our guides explain the options, such as capital allowances and power purchase agreements, and we always suggest you confirm tax treatment with your accountant.
  • We do not set the installer's price. Any quote is between you and the installer.

Frequently asked questions

If the survey is free, how do you make money?

The installer we match you with pays us for the appointment. Your business pays nothing for the survey, and there is no obligation to go ahead. If you do go ahead, you agree the price for the installation directly with the installer.

Does paying for appointments affect which installer I get?

Every installer we match has passed the same checks: reviews, accreditations, trading history, stable directorships, MCS, area and job size. Within those, we choose the one that covers your area and takes on jobs the size of yours. If an installer doesn't meet our checks, we don't match them.

Will my details be passed to other companies?

No. If your site is suitable, your details go to the one matched installer so they can arrange the survey, and to no other installer. Our privacy notice explains how we hold your details and how to ask us to delete them.
